We are still alive!

Well, I guess it is time for another blog entry seeing as many of you have concerns that we have gone awal. We did arrive in Madrid on the overnight train we last spoke about. Upon our arrival we checking into our hostel and wondered the streets for a while as we normally do in a new city. This hostel (cats) was a bit of a new experience for us as we were sharing a room with 8 other people. At first it didnt bother me too much as we had our own lockers to keep things safe; however, come night there was an orchestra of snores to keep us from sleeping for very long. There is also the issue of having to tip toe around the room while others are slumbering and then there are the keeners who wake at 8am and flip the lights on. All in all I think we will try and avoid the large shared rooms in the future when possible.

We found the city of Madrid to be quite bland as other backpackers had told us it would be, it had little to offer as far as entertainment and sightseeing. However, it was our first taste of some warm Spanish weather. We did take a walking tour of the city which showed us a few of the sights and tought us some of its history (pictures to come). Later we met with the same tour guides who took us out to a few of the local bars. Again, like the rest of the city the bars were not all that great. Granted I have little good to say about Madrid it was still a cool place to visit and at least now we can say we have been there!

This morning we checked out of our hostel and killed a couple hours by playing catch with a half bottle of water. After this riviting game we hopped on a train to Valencia where we are now. The weather is beautiful here (about 29 deg. and not a cloud in the sky) and we got our first look of the mediterranean sea. We are deffinatly happy to be here! The sun has gone down now for the day but tomorrow we are going to hit the beach and go for a swim. We plan to make our next 3 days here as inexpensive as possible by hanging out at the beach and making our own meals in the hostel kitchen.

We will keep you posted on what´s going on as often as we can but computers are not always easy to come by so if you don´t hear from us in a couple days don´t panic, there will be another blog entry soon!

bye for now...

Med Sea sounds great, and favorable weather too...bonus. Is it as true blue as everyone says? Enjoy hanging out and saving eoro's.

Okay, so now we know 'no news is good news' and we can actually go 3 days (or more) with no word and NOT PANIC!! It just takes a little getting used to when you're 8,000 miles away and we have no way of knowing if you had an accident on your hike up the hill to see Jesus, if you made the train to Madrid or got lost on the streets of that city looking for your dormitory hostel (one day you will understand!) Anyway, glad you are enjoying Valencia and the sunny Med, which should extend to the next few days when you travel on to Ibiza and **bliss** an actual hotel - ENJOY :) Our love as always

Wow. The Med Sea. Do you guys realize how lucky you are to be EXPERIENCING all this? Loved Jane's comments - I concur! Try not to make your Mother's worry too much! Hope you are relaxing, sun bathing and cooking up a storm. You will need to conserve your energy for Ibiza. :) Wow.....

Ryan - I was thinking I could box up some more of your tees, dress shirts, shorts, etc. and ship them to Roz in Oz (probably +/- 6 weeks on the boat) cost approx $70. The box could then be couriered to your final destination when you get settled for a total cost of about $100 - probably cheaper than buying all new. What do you think?

Ryan didn't you realize that I was training you for hostel life by snoring up a storm and getting up early for work turning on all the lights? Hehe. Well good to hear that you guys are finally getting some sun. It's cleared up here too. My apartment is SO HOT. Atleast you can swim in the ocean there! Hope your hostel is the best one yet! Miss you. Say hi to Jordo!

Note to Jane: I still have to send Jordan's laptop to Roz in Oz but we certainly didn't find a shipping rate that cheap! Maybe we should put together a 'care package' and send it off and split the cost? Call me when you have a minute...
